Ebay telling me to refund but I have not been paid and my Ebay account is empty

I had a timewaster buyer who returned the item, and I had to bare the cost of that.  Ebay telling me to refund within a week but I have not been paid - my Ebay account is empty.   It is not clear how this works but I do not want to be sending money from my personal bank account without the assurance that I have actually been paid.  The AI assistant is useless.

You refund via the return case.   eBay take the money from your funding source, ie. your bank account, but you will keep the payment when it clears.
