Ebay Simple Delivery refunded for damaged item from my sellers balance

I recently sold an item using Ebays simple delivery. Unfortunately it got damaged whilst with royal mail and when the buyer sent me a message ebay intervened saying they would handle it and issue a refund. I have found that this refund has come out of my available balance. Ebay states that they will cover all costs with simple delivery buy they have taken the money from me instead

For ebay to refund the buyer has to open a return case stating "Item damaged". You can contact ebay about it and see what they say. You can request a callback on here:
