Does this mean that we are going back to the not paid till confirmed delivered scenario?

So does this mean we could be waiting nearly a week for the money?

Funds Availability: For many sellers, funds will become available for payout within 72 hours after eBay confirms delivery.

Does this relate to private sellers or is that still at the £1700 threshold

Tax Reporting: Due to OECD Model Reporting Rules (often referred to as HMRC rules), if you sell over £1,000 a year, your income will be reported to tax authorities.

What does this effectively mean for private sellers.

The term 'non-professional sellers' is used by AI but not generally used by Ebay.

On 4th February LAST YEAR Ebay introduced delayed payouts but there have been changes since then and most regular sellers can access their funds very promptly.

This is an email that i received this morning, I googled it and this is the full reading

Based on recent updates for early 2026, eBay is implementing significant changes to its Payments Terms of Use, with new, more restrictive rules for seller payouts and fee structures becoming effective for all users by April 2026.

It means that if you're a private seller listing off your own personal possessions, usually bits from your wardrobe, loft or garage, and your sales in a calendar year hit more than 30 or £1700 in value (whatever criteria is met first) then eBay send a report to HMRC. It's nothing to worry about if it's clear that you are just listing items that you own but no longer want.

The £1,000 turnover figure is the Trading Allowance for small business sellers - it's the yardstick by which anyone who is trading as a business seller must complete a self assessment tax return. They need to declare income to HMRC once they reach £1,000 worth of sales.
