Ebay not releasing payment
Summary: 65921301 is experiencing issues with an eBay purchase where an item worth £350 was lost in transit. The seller sent a replacement, but 65921301 cannot mark the item as received on eBay, preventing the seller from receiving payment. Efforts to resolve the issue through eBay failed, and the seller requested direct payment. However, this poses the risk of paying twice since a dispute was previously closed. 65921301 is seeking advice on how to proceed without disadvantaging themselves or the seller.
Can anyone help with this? I ordered an item for about £350 and the seller sent the item, which was lost in the post. I contacted them and they did everything possible to track it down but in the end sent me another one. Ebay are aaying that they won't release the funds to the seller until I mark the item as received, which there is no way of doing this that I can see. I opened a dispute with ebay to try to get a refund and the seller asked me to close this until they tried to find a way to resolve with ebay. They couldn't, and now the seller wants me to send the money for the item to them directly. I have now tried to open a case with ebay again but the system says I can't because I have already closed a case on this item. I obviously don't want to pay twice but I also don't want the seller to lose out! Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

Mentor3 weeks agoYou can't mark it as received and the seller will be paid eventually.
What is the current position regarding payment and refunds? Have you received a refund but have an item?
