Ebay has zero SELLER PROTECTION - Buyer wants a refund for item she didn't collect
Summary: A discussion initiated by top.notch.items highlights concerns about the lack of seller protection on eBay. The issue revolves around a buyer requesting a refund for an item they didn't collect. *vyolla* participated in the discussion, but details of their response are not available.
The item was advertised as a COLLECTION. The buyer failed to collect it.
The buyer paid for the item (used kitchen) on 25th May and I made it clear in my messages the item needs to be collected by the end of last week. The customer said she was abroad and her builder would collect it, but they did not respond to my messages when I asked them for a collection date.
Due to their lack of communication, i had no choice but to pay for my kitchen to be removed today at my own cost, otherwise my kitchen renovation would be delayed.
I still offered buyer a partial £100 refund. Buyer then created a case and requested a FULL REFUND because she didnt recieve the item (THE ITEM SHE PAID FOR 8 DAYS AGO AND DIDNT BOTHER TO COLLECT!!).
I have paid money to have kitchen removed today because the buyer didnt collect in time. So why should the buyer recieve a full refund and i get nothing?
eBay customer service have been appalling. They listen to me for 10 minutes saying they 'understand', 'the buyer has inconvienced you' and then turn around and say i can't have any compensation and the buyer gets all their money back.
eBay closed the case within 2 hours and stated "We didn’t receive valid proof of delivery from you". The item was advertised as a COLLECTION. The buyer failed to collect it. - When i challenged eBay on this, they said they cannot reverse the refund because its been paid EVEN THOUGH THEY CLOSED THE CASE BASED ON WRONG INFORMATION.
EBay customer service are so unhelpful. They side with the buyers and when I was understandably frustrated on the phone call, they told me to 'be professional' even though i've lost money in the process of trying to sell something to rhis time-wasting buyer.

Mentor2 months agoBuyers will always get their money back if they don't collect their item, that's how it works.
If a collection item needs to be picked up within a certain timeframe then this should really made clear in the listing description.
