eBay closed my case saying "full refund", but refunded less than 50% — no appeal option
I received an item damaged. I contacted the seller first and asked whether they would offer a partial refund (and, if so, how much) or whether I should open a case. The seller told me to open a case, which I did.
I did not agree to a specific partial refund.
eBay subsequently closed the case in my favour and the case details explicitly state:
"We're issuing you a full refund for this case."
The purchase price was £94.46 and the refund actually issued was £45.54, leaving £48.92 outstanding.
I contacted eBay Customer Support about the discrepancy and have now received a response saying that the partial refund was appropriate because I had requested a partial refund and would keep the item.
That is not what I communicated to the seller. I asked whether they would offer a partial refund and, if so, how much. The seller then told me to open a case. I did not agree to keep the item in exchange for £45.54.
There is also no "Send us an appeal" option anywhere on the case, despite eBay's current help page saying that an appeal can be made within 30 calendar days of the case being closed.
I've also tried contacting Customer Service again, but the automated support system returns "Something went wrong. Please try again later." every time.
Could asomeone please advise how I can get this case manually reviewed?
I can provide screenshots of the case outcome, refund, my communication with the seller, the Customer Support response, and the failed Customer Service contact.
