eBay Account Restricted Without Explanation - Still Being Asked to Pay Fees
I’m sharing my recent experience with an unexplained account restriction on eBay, in hopes of getting clarification and highlighting a broader concern.
My account was suddenly restricted from selling and buying without any prior warning or explanation. When I contacted eBay support for clarification, I was initially told there was “nothing to worry about,” but moments later I was informed that the account could not be reinstated and that I would no longer be able to use the platform for selling. No specific reason was provided.
After being effectively removed from the marketplace, I was still asked to pay outstanding selling fees. In my conversation with support, I made it clear that it’s unreasonable to request payment for a service I am barred from using, especially when the restriction itself was never explained. The response I received offered no further guidance or justification.
The key concerns are:
Lack of Transparency: The account was restricted without any clear reason or communication.
Service Denial Without Cause: Being told the account cannot be reinstated while still being asked to pay fees is contradictory and unfair.
Minimal Sales Activity: With very low activity and visibility on the account, the restriction appears disproportionate and unjustified.
I’m posting here to request that eBay provide:
A clear explanation for the restriction.
A reassessment of the fees being charged now that selling access has been revoked.
Transparency and fair treatment are essential to maintaining trust on the platform, and I hope this matter receives proper attention.

Mentor10 months agoI can only see one item sold, which showed as located in the USA but you were registered in the UK.
That sale was apparently cancelled as being out of Stock.
Ebay do not like disappointed buyers, and with a very low number of sales this one out of stock cancellation would have put your defect rate around 50% when ebay expect no higher than 2%.
This could be reason for permanent ban.
You did have in total 3 sales, even if only two were completed, so why do you think you should not pay selling fees?

This could be reason for permanent ban. (My account is not permanently ban. They just restrict my sales for no reason as I said, I talk to them on this matter, they said there is nothing to worry. But they did not lift any restriction yet)

(They give the option to work in USA so what you think they are mad?)
You did have in total 3 sales, even if only two were completed, so why do you think you should not pay selling fees? (who said to you that 3rd was not completed?? And who said to you that 3 sales I made in 1 week or 1 month,, ) Your comment shows your intellectual level. If some one tells the story in community, what that means. I just comment here because they(ebay team) are not replying my emails, I emailed them they have no answer for me. It is nothing about the fee or money, it is injustice.

·10 months agoAs advised, this is a member to member forum and your post won't be read by anybody from Ebay.
You should write to Ebay at their UK registered address if you want to bring your concerns to their attention.

Mentor10 months agoSurely if ebay are asking for fees they are for a service you have already used? If so, they are legitimately owed and you can't withhold payment.

Mentor10 months agoYou are speaking to members like yourself, eBay do not come to this forum.
eBay usually send messages explaining any vital issues which need addressing before placing a permanent restriction on accounts.
You mention unpaid fees? Was this a long standing matter? That is, if fees were not paid for a long time , this could lead to a restriction.
eBay Customer Services will not discuss any restriction in any detail, but will just direct you to any message sent and give no further information, when a decision is final.
Bottom line is, if you have received a permanent or indefinite restriction this means a lifetime ban, there's no coming back from this. If there are outstanding fees these must be paid, as eBay do use debt collectors.
