Dodgy eBay seller.
Just had a run in with a dodgy eBay seller, he deliberately removed parts from a hoover I bought that were not only in the pictures but mentioned in the listing. He refused to answer my notes until I mentioned reporting him to eBay. He wanted me to return said hoover after I had thrown his smelly box out, meaning I would need to buy another box. After I had spent an hour bleeching it because he was too lazy to empty it before shipping, but had found the time to remove parts. Recent feedback was good but probably manufactured as further back he's done and used the offensive term "window licker" in his reply to the other buyer he conned. I only asked for 50% of the cost of replacing the missing parts too. Seller was very rude. Is there a way to report him to eBay that will get his account banned?

Mentor10 months agoThis seller has 69 negatives in 12 months. That to me is a bad seller. He has a feedback profile of 95.8%, again that makes him a bad seller in my opinion.
Unfortunately all you can do is what everyone else has advised and complete a Not as Described return and send the hoover back for a full refund. Once the return is started the seller has 3 days to send you a paid for return label. You do not pay one penny to return it and the seller must refund you on receipt.
He already has a lot of negs and he gets many more ebay will probably take action.

·10 months agoEbay would not remove a seller based on one complaint from one buyer.
There is a 'report a seller' link but you have to choose one of the specific reasons from the list Ebay give.
You can deal with this through the Ebay process, by opening a return, sending the item back and getting a full refund.
Sellers do have the option of offering a partial refund but buyers can't request a partial refund and sellers can only make such an offer through an opened return case.

OP10 months agoIt isn't one complaint. He recent feedback was clean. But further back he's done this before many times. Taken items out that were listed, ghosted buyers, sent broken items out and mislisted items as being things they weren't. I must've seen 40 complaints and there was no end in sight.
I open a case, he refused to listen and wanted me to return it knowing I would be out money. Also he charged me £13 for delivery, yet the return was only £7.40.

Mentor10 months agoyou cannot lose out on money if you, as advised, open a not as described case.

OP10 months agoTo be honest I've put effort in cleaning it and fitting stuff, he would probably pull another stunt like saying I broke it by doing that. I no longer trust the seller. He's been dishonest more than once already.

·10 months agoMost business sellers with 27000 sales will have some negative feedback. Of their 50 most recent feedbacks, only one is negative.
You have had a bad experience but this person is not a bad seller.
As advised, you can get your money back. You can't get this successful business closed down.

OP10 months agoI disagree. When a seller does something wrong once or twice it is written off. But when he does the thing over and over again he's clearly a bad seller and knows what he's doing. That is an lot of bad feedback all listing the same thing.
He's clearly dishonest.

·10 months agoSo, looking at the seller's last 200 feedbacks, there is one other buyer who complains that their item arrived with parts missing.
That is 1% of the total sales.
That is not an excellent record but it doesn't show a pattern.
Anyway, you do have the option of returning for a full refund and you do not have to deal with this seller again.

OP10 months agoBut he's done the self and same thing many times, that is a pattern.
People don't make the same mistake that many times.
Selling snooker cues that are bent when he said they weren't, missing an extension piece, selling another hoover missing the drive belt with a dead motor selling many other items that he claimed were in working order but arrived broken. Each time he ghosted the seller until eBay was contacted. Used terms like "window licker" which isn't acceptable.
You can defend him all you want but no honest seller carries off like that.

Mentor10 months agoNo one is defending seller.
Ebay provide a solution with MBG.
You open item not as described case, seller supplies returns label, you post back for full refund.
Escalate case on day 4 if no label or refund.
Do not contact seller, cases are automated.

This is eBay. Encountering a dishonest trading partner is just one of the risks we have to accept in buying and selling here.
eBay even warns buyers in the user agreement that they do not guarantee the quality of items sold here, that descriptions will be truthful or accurate or that items will be safe, legal - or even exist. Would you have bought from a shop that stated this? eBay is a jungle.
As has been said, you can use eBay's money back guarantee to get a full refund. As regards the seller being removed, I'm afraid you just have to leave it to eBay to follow its own procedures.
You have left feedback to warn other buyers, but the seller can probably have it removed. It is not allowed to mention contacting eBay, or to refer to feedback left by other people.

Mentor10 months agoThe simple answer is that when an item is "not as described" then you open a case with eBay [do not bother contacting the seller ] - you will get a label to return and you return everything that was supplied for a full refund. EBay monitors it and it is pretty well automatic; no discussion/argument.
There is no way to report the seller to "get him banned". If many buyers use a not as described case then he may get banned.
