Dodgy Buyer
I recently sold an item, it was collected on Monday, everything was tested and was working. The Buyer has now messaged me, 5 days later, claiming they took it to a repair shop, to get the broken part fixed (which was stated in the listing) and supposedly there are about 5 other things wrong with it.
When I questioned the Buyer about the repair report, they didn't have it and said they are going back for a second opinion. Even though I have checked the repair shops website and i can see they only fix certain things (none of which the Buyer listed to me) and that isn't in every store.
Something seems really off with this!

Mentor6 months agoWhat's interesting abut your post is that it could so easily have come from the buyer, but headed Dodgy Seller! It would claim that you had only mentined one fault, but there were five other faults too!
It illustrates the near impossibility of the role that aBay has set itself up to make, deciding disputes without even seeing the items concerned.
The bad news for you - but good news for your buyer - is that if they open a case under eBay's money back guaranatee, eBay's response in cases of doubt almost always seems to be to support the buyer.
You would then also have to provide a prepaid return label. This might be a case where it's worth offering the buyer a partial refund, unless of course you particularly want it back.

OP6 months agoAs much as I understand what you are saying. The conversation with the buyer is happening over Ebay and the faults he has listed would make the item impossible to use, so there would be no way they could've tested it. If the problems did exist they would've seen them when they came and collected the item from me. If they were concerned why did they give me their code to confirm that they were happy??

Mentor6 months agoYou can ignore him unless he opens a case.
If this happens, and they say they have had repairs done you can tell them you can't accept a return as the item will not be in the same condition as received.
Of course the buyer may ignore your message and return it anyway. If they do, come back here for further advice.

OP6 months agoThe issue with this is the Buyer is claiming that the repairs to be done will cost more than a brand new item. Which is ludicrous! I'm going to ignore them as I think they are trying to pull a fast one but it's really frustrating.
