    Disputing a refund request

Summary: The discussion is centered around a refund request dispute, although the specific details of the dispute are not provided. jonathagilber_1 initiated the topic, followed by a brief interaction from tressygirl, also without any specific content shared. The conversation lacks detailed information or resolution steps and remains inconclusive.

A buyer is demanding a full refund for a cd box set that he claims doesn't match the description, he had previous to listening to the cd given me a glowing review totally happy with the overall condition, but upon listening to the cd realised that it wasn't original studio recordings but live and reworked versions. He claims that it is my duty as a seller to explicitly describe all details of the recording and as I hadn't listed in the description that they weren't the original recordings he is justified in getting a full refund. The photos I originally listed with the item showed that they were not original recordings so there was no way I was trying to dupe him like he is claiming. As a buyer you have to do some research into the product you are purchasing and you can't always blame the seller if it doesn't meet your requirements.            I have offered a partial refund as a good will gesture, but this was flatly refused. I don't want to pay for the return postage as there is nothing wrong with the item and it is exactly as described, this is evident in the fact that the buyer has already posted a glowing review pre listening, it is not my responsibility as a seller as to the quality of the music on the disc but that it looks and plays as it should. If I just ignore the refund request and let eBay step in this could affect my rating, not sure what to do.

Yes,  if you ignore the case,  and let eBay step in,  they will after 4 days of no action, and they will force the refund from you,  the buyer will not need to return the item,  and you receive a damaging defect for not dealing with an item not as described case.

If a case  for item not as described is opened,  it's all automatic, no point challenging it at that point with no human contact.

You need to accept it within 3 days,  pay for that fully tracked return postage if you want your item back first,  do not refund until it's back with you,  you then have 48 hours to fully refund.

Stick within those timelines,  and your seller performance is not affected.

If eBay step in and refund, should the case be escalated, if you think the decision for the refund unfair,  you can appeal, link below shows the process.

I'll admit it's not easy,  eBay do not see the item in question and they do tend to side with a buyer's view, but worth a shot appealing.
