Dishonest sellers: Location!
Can anyone tell me how sellers can show their location as London UK, Manchester UK, etc, and then after your purchase is confirmed their location changes to China?
I know we now manufacture very little in the UK (I was employed on a manufacturing site in the UK for over 40 years), and most items originate in China, but I want to support UK sellers and do not wish my personal details to be available in China!
PS. I always also check the ‘about’ location in seller details and it also changes after purchase.
Why do eBay allow this to happen?

Mentor11 months agoThe important thing to remember is that the item location (shown inthe listing) is not necessarily the seller's location.
eBay should make this clearer, as regardless of where the item was located, if the seller is in China there is a risk that items may not comply with UK safety standards. And you're unlikely to have any meaningful UK statutory consumer protection.
Never imagine that buying from unknown sellers on eBay is like buying from the shops. Sellers who turn out to be in another Continent is just one of the reasons.

Mentor11 months agoA lot of Chinese sellers have UK warehouse (or claim to).
Only by checking seller's feedback page will you see where they are registered.
Check estimated delivery date for indication of where item is posted from.

Mentor11 months agoThe location on listings, shows the location of the item , where it is being posted from, and not the seller's location which yes, can be the other side of the world.
Most Chinese sellers have forwarding companies based in the UK to facilitate a faster dispatch, so showing UK ( the item's location ), is correct and above board.
The seller's country of registration is not hidden, it just takes a few more clicks. If ever unsure, click on the seller's feedback score, to bring up their feedback profile, and it will show the seller's country of registration.
