Disgusting Seller
Hi there,
I have been on eBay for several years and 100% feedback and dealt with some fantastic people.
Unfortunately I have just had a rather disgusting and upsetting encounter.
I purchased a football top, and when received it was very clear it was a fake. I asked to return the item and the seller went on to make pretty much death threats towards my family.
Before I go directly to the Police, I just wondered is there anywhere on eBay I can report this type of behaviour? I would not wish this on anyone else.
please remove this post if not the correct forum.
Thanks

OP10 months agoHey all,
thanks very much for the engagement in this post. I reported with eBay, and then appealed and got the attached. They don’t see anything wrong with the abuse correspondence received. Any suggested next steps?
thanks,
Alex

It's difficult to answer your question with so little information.
If the seller "pretty much made death threats towards your family" it's hard to see how eBay could have seen nothing wrong with their behaviour. This would self-evidently not be allowed under eBay's Threats and offensive language policy.
I can only suggest that if the seller's comments have made you feel fearful or axious about threats to yourself or your family, you should go to the police about this. (Which is also what eBay's policy advises.)
The police will be able to advise whether you perhaps over-reacted to what was said, or whether the comments were indeed threatening. If so, this is a serious matter, even if only made to cause anxiety or distress without any intention to carry them out. I would expect the police to take follow-up action with the seller.
If so, you will be able to come down hard on eBay for its failure to support you when you first reported this seller's behaviour. eBay has a poor record of responding to users' complaints about itself and you may need to consider how best to go about this. If the position arises you might want to post here again to bring us up to date, and invite suggestions.

Mentor11 months agoThat's awful. You can report the message to ebay via the three little dots at the top right of the actual message. Odds are the threats are meaningless intimidation but see what the police say. Don't contact the seller again.
For the top, start a return on here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/returns-refunds/return-item-refund?id=4041
select "Item doesn't match description" and escalate it to eBay after 3 complete working days.
