Mentor6 months agoPersonally, the only service I would trust for a £1,300 item is Royal Mail special delivery. This is a premium, dedicated service for valuable, fragile or important items and is separate from the ordinary post. It isn't cheap, but they will not just dump parcels on the doorstep - which even the best couriers sometimes can't resist doing.
You would have to get the seller's agreement to use this service. Business sellers can choose whatever service they wish, but eBay makes it more complicated for private sellers to opt out of simple delivery.

Unfortunately couriers do often leave items on door step.
If it gets stolen, you will have a hard job proving it.
Most couriers will inform you when item is being delivered, so make sure someone is there to accept it.

Mentor6 months agoThe seller should be using a delivery service that requires a signature on delivery which hopefully the carrier will abide by
