Damage item showing as undelivered therefore I cant return it
I bought a print from the USA. It arrived at my home in the UK badly damaged. Ive contacted the seller who has agreed a full refund is in order. The item is showing as estimated delivery on 7th February and will not let me start the return process as it says its too early?

OP6 months agoThanks for all the help. The 7th has arrived and I've been able to complete the returns process as a damaged item. Very bizarre but it's on its way back to the US of A.

Mentor6 months agoAre you sure you're opening the correct type of return case?
As the item arrived damaged you should be opening an item not as described case under eBay's money back guarantee. You should be able to open this without waiting for the latest estimated delivery date.
The other important difference is that for a money back guarantee case the seller in the US should be responsible for the cost of return. However, eBay's system or return labels isn't available for international returns. This is the advice that an eBay rep once gave here; it refers to China, but should be the same for the US:
Now if a seller is based outside of the UK, lets use China as the example, and the item is sent from China it is still the sellers' responsibility to provide means of return to the buyer if it's a not as described case. This should be a label or payment for the buyer to send the item back. If the seller does not provide means of return within the seller make it right period the buyer can reach out to our teams and we escalate the case. What normally would happen here is that the agent will send the seller a warning that they have 5 days to provide means of return or we will close the case in the buyer's favour.
A seller can buy an international label (direct through a courier) and provide it to the buyer or the monetary value to send the item back if the buyer is willing to physically go buy the label.
If you had to pay import duty and VAT you may have to reclaim this direct from HMRC. You will find the procedure on their web site.

Mentor6 months agoIt's a bit of a weirs one I agree as the item is in your possession but because all cases are automated no way to quicken the process, you will just have to wait for the 7th to open that case. Thankfully, only a few days to wait.
