customer compensation
Summary: nimax67 is involved in a dispute with a seller over a misleading advertisement, originally suggesting a "10 pack" when only one item was received. Despite several attempts to contact the seller, the advert was eventually corrected, and a refund was offered only once the item was returned. nimax67 expresses frustration over the seller's attitude and lack of responsive service, while feeling disappointed with the platform's customer support. tobiasd4 advises opening a case for "not as described" to facilitate a return and refund, noting it might be cheaper for the seller to issue a refund without the return.
Is there such a thing as customer compensation? I have a dispute with a seller over a very misleading advert. Long story short, and after a lot of back and forth, the seller accepted that their advert of "10 pack" did not mean the 1 item I received when I expected 10 in the pack. And this was only after a couple of attempts at even getting them to respond to my return request. they have now changed the advert to read "1-10 Pack Heavy Duty Magnetic Hooks Hanger Hold Neodymium Strong Magnet Set UK" instead of the original "10 pack". They have offered me a refund, but only once they receive the hook back. Given their poor service so far, I don't entirely trust that I will get a refund once they get the the hook back. I don't actually care about the £2.60, it's the attitude of the seller. It's the buyer that has to go through a lot of time and effort to get the seller to even respond. And E-bay doesn't actually seem to care that much either.

Probably cheaper for seller to refund without return, but up to them.
Any compensation is between you and seller.
