Courier Delivery Delays Caused by Buyer Not Being Available, Advice Needed
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice from fellow sellers regarding delivery challenges.
I sell large furniture items and use third-party couriers arranged by suppliers. Before delivery, buyers are contacted to confirm their availability. However, we’re increasingly facing situations where buyers confirm availability but later ask drivers to wait, reschedule on the same day, or say they’re not home. This causes significant delays, missed routes, and impacts other customers on the same delivery run.
As a seller, I do my best to communicate clearly and confirm delivery days, but courier timing and delays caused by buyer unavailability are often beyond my direct control. Unfortunately, this sometimes results in customer dissatisfaction and negative feedback, even when we’ve followed the agreed process. How do other sellers handle delivery issues when customers do not ensure availability, causing delays with third-party couriers? What’s the best way to protect seller performance and communicate this clearly in listings or messages?

To be fair, you haven't received any negs and both simply mention confusion. Perhaps there's something to be learned from this.
You could try asking this question on the sellers board, where you may find other sellers with experience of the same problems.
