Country of Origin defaulting to China

Hi,

This week I have listed about 15 items and on 5 of them, where country of origin was not an item specific requirement, I left blank as I have many times before. On re-visiting the listings I noticed that the field had been populated with China. I thought I was seeing things, but checked all the listings and they were the same. Has anyone experienced this? I went and revised the item with UK, to avoid any doubt.

Must admit, no one has reported this yet, but, your post I'm sure will get peeps running to their sales to check that item specific.

If it does happen again , take a screenshot come back here with it, and we'll ask a Community Manager if they can explain how this happens, is it the norm ?

Thank you for your reply and your kind words about our items. I think I have found the answer to my question as once again the Country of Origin was populated despite me leaving it blank. Apparently it is something to do with the US market, I don’t know why they don’t make it a required field rather than “randomly” pre-populating, as I know China can be contentious. I will now have to make sure that if it is an option (not even a required one) then I must populate it.
