I have attempted to report counterfeit items to eBay several times now, but it just keeps telling me that there was no violation found. I purchased a Dog gut paste and it's packaging was different so I shared the details with the manufacturer, who confirmed that the batch/serial number were fake and the product was counterfeit.
Is there no way that we can now report these? I shared the letter from the manufacturer and appealed the decision but it still came back as "no voilation"... how is it possible that counterfeits and fakes are ALLOWED to be sold?

Mentor3 weeks agoBest thing you can do is to return it as a counterfeit item (select the doesn't match description or photo reason), its then logged with eBay and the seller then is out of pocket because they have to pay for the return and you can leave feedback to warn other potential buyers.

OP3 weeks agoI did that - but there is no "counterfeit/fake" option so it's not flagged as such. They refunded me in full and didn't want the return item..... but so far, it would appear that eBay are quite happy for these items to be sold as genuine to the unsuspecting buyers.

Mentor3 weeks agoYou have to flag it, select the 'doesn't match description or photo' reason and then state that it's counterfeit and reasons why in the text field. You can add photos too. AI will then pick up on the word 'counterfeit'.

Mentor3 weeks agoEbay's report a listing feature is basically lip service and achieves nothing.
The money back guarantee protects buyers if they buy a fake and it is the manufacturer who should be pursuing the seller.

OP3 weeks agoBut some may not be aware that the product they purchased is counterfeit. I use the product regularly and so was able to spot the differences (very minor) in the packaging. Others may be administering this paste to their dogs and who knows what on earth is in it!

Mentor3 weeks agoAnything that gets eaten or put on your face (and this applies to pets too) should only ever be purchased from a reputable UK registered business seller or the brands own website. Logic should prevail there.
