Correct address, wrong name.
Summary: andeeeh initiates the discussion about an issue where the correct address has been used, but the wrong name has been attached. tressygirl responds to andeeeh with additional context or a query, and andeeeh further clarifies or adds information. tressygirl then responds again, concluding the conversation.
Sporadically, for the last couple of years I have been receiving items addressed to me but with someone else’s name, always the same name.
I haven’t purchased the items but they are almost always music industry related T shirts in extra large sizes.
Where return addresses are available I have sent them back with a cover note explaining the situation and asking the sellers to investigate the details of the buyer.
Still they keep coming to the tune of 4 in the last month.
I asked the question of EBay, but was told via a phone conversation, that they can’t help resolve the issue.
Has anyone any ideas how to proceed?
TIA.

Mentor5 months agoAre you sure this is from an eBay seller?
If you have purchased some recent items from eBay, checkout those sellers, they may just have posted to the wrong buyer.
Click on the seller's listings, then down the left sidebar click on Sold. If you find the item there, send that seller a message that you have received their item in error, for them to send you enough money to cover a fully tracked return postage to return the item back to them.
Do not be fobbed off with sending to the correct buyer, it goes back to the seller.
If this is not the case, and no one else in your household knows of this purchase, google Brushing Scam see if that applies here.

OP5 months agoMany thanks for the reply but from what I can see my situation is a little different in that the items don't have my name on them, just my address and the name of another purchaser. I have received items from eBay, Tik Tok shop and another online retailer all with the same 'wrong' name and my correct address.
Where visible return details are available I have put them back in the post as Return to Sender with a covering note asking the seller to check their buyer's details but no-one has ever confirmed the receipt of the returns.
I would like to think the mystery buyer would be chasing the sellers for the items they've purchased but not received, but I have no-way of finding out.
I thought, given I had the full name of the mystery buyer, eBay would be able to trace them, but that doesn’t appear to be the case?
regards.

Mentor5 months agoeBay will not reveal any personal details to you over the phone for security reasons, as they cannot verify what you are saying is the reason why you wish this person's details.
All you can do is to keep sending them back , the ones with a return address on them, if you catch your Postie, you can refuse any delivery of these items.
