EBay’s ai is driving me spare. I list on behalf of a cat charity. For over five years I e been putting photos of kittens or cats and asking for people to donate to buy them a dinner. Never any problems with listing policies. This year so far I have had listing removed FOUR times as I’m not allowed to sell animals. I’m not selling animals! When I appeal it is immediately refused as this again is done by ai. Any person reading the listing will understand it but it’s obviously behind ai’s intelligence! If I speak to an agent I go round in circles as they don’t know what they are talking about and I can’t seem to be able to talk to anyone who deals with charities at ebay. HELP!!!

This was followed up with our policy team for your flagged listings and they are reviewing them for appeal. As has been correctly mentioned having the image of the kittens is being picked up for the live animal policy. While the appeal may be successful in having listings restored its likely to be flagged again with the current images.

OP1 month agoThanks for trying to help. Now had two emails from eBay saying my appeal has been approved! I’m sure in a few weeks time it will happen again. I assume it will also be happening to Cats Protection and the RSPCA. A bit frustrating as listings were set up using wording suggested by eBay for charity

As people are buying donations and not a tangible item I'm surprised that eBay haven't picked up on it sooner. You can't use a photo of a kitten for buyers to buy a donation, and as AI has taken over it won't allow you to use a photo of a kitten as the main photo, which is supposed to be of the item that's being offered for sale. You're between a rock and a hard place because even putting a photo of a bowl of cat food up isn't going to pass AI inspection in the long run.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I absolutely love cats and have got 4 rescues myself, but I can only tell you how eBay works right now. I can tag and alert somebody from eBay to this thread to advise, but only if you'd like me to.

OP1 month agoThe way the listings were set up over five years ago was fully with eBay fo charity approval. They helped with best wording re “donating” etc. RSPCA and Cats Protection have loads of similar listings. Our onstiins had already dropped a lot since eBay introduced free listings and the site got swamped. I would really like to be able to get a person at eBay to read the listing. No one is going to buy dinners for rescue cats without a cat photo.
