Contact a real person at eBay
Summary: mix1962 is experiencing difficulties contacting a seller regarding a warranty issue with a purchased item that failed. Despite attempts to resolve this through eBay and discussions with an eBay agent, the seller remains unresponsive. **peaseblossom** suggests that eBay may not be helpful as they don't handle warranty issues beyond their 30-day claim period. mix1962 is considering a small claims court due to potential legal hurdles and has expressed concerns about outdated seller contact details on eBay. A link is provided by **peaseblossom** for contacting eBay directly.
I purchased an item 6 months ago which the seller advertises with a 1 year warranty. The item failed last month and I tried to contact the seller about returning the item for repair/refund but they are not responding (their phone number is not operational and they do not reply to messages via eBay or direct emails). I managed to speak to an eBay agent a week ago, who spent over 30 minutes trying to escalate the issue - the agent said that the seller would be 'forced' to respond to me messages, but I have heard nothing. I have tried to contact an agent again, without success. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can speak to a real person at eBay rather than AI?

MentorAug 10, 2026 at 2:54 PMebay won't do anything past their 30 day deadline for claims and they don't get involved with warranties. At the best of times no one can force a seller to reply. I'm afraid you're too late for your payment provider too. If the value makes it worthwhile you could try the small claims court, now called money claim online. And it was a UK business seller you can report them to Trading Standards.

OPAug 10, 2026 at 3:09 PMI've looked at the cost to process a 'small claim' (as it used to be called) and the likelihood of winning is high, but then there's every chance the seller will ignore the outcome, so the cost will escalate to recover the initial £70 outlay. I know that it isn't an eBay responsibility, however the seller has listed false, or out of date, contact details - that's where the eBay agent I physically spoke to last week said he could help ie provide a contact number etc.

OPAug 12, 2026 at 1:28 PMThanks for taking the time in sending the link, but it takes me straight to the loop with 'Customer Services' where it's just the irritating AI interaction. I have only once (last week) found that it asks me if I want to speak to a agent and I get to add my contact number.
