Summary: mario.cy expressed frustration over eBay's policy after being forced to refund a buyer for a used item, which cannot be relisted. They felt that eBay favors buyers over long-term sellers and considered moving their business to another platform. *vyolla* suggested that business sellers can give a partial refund if items are returned in a different state and recommended reporting the buyer. mario.cy responded that such policies are unfair, particularly for items that have been abused.
I had an item returned this week which has been used and therefore I cannot relist it. Despite appealing the refund, eBay in its wisdom has made me fully refund the buyer £236 (including their commission), because the people who make the rules wish to keep the person who takes advantage happy rather than a 23 year business seller. This is a real bad show. How can they completely disregard the facts and instead state to me that such situations ought to be factored into the selling price? It seems like the new policies that benefit buyers trying to exploit sellers are now taking precedent and that other business owners ought to be aware. Since this is the case, I am really considering moving my business elsewhere to a platform that defends the seller.

Mentor3 weeks agoBusiness sellers can make a 50% refund if they accept the return and the item arrives back in a different state to what it was sent out in.
You can also report the buyer for returning a used item.

OP3 weeks agogreat policy a item which has been abused does not deserve the shipping costs let alone a refund

Mentor3 weeks agoYou can argue the toss with eBay, you must accept the return first though and then, before refunding or before eBay make a refund, report the buyer and present your case.
