Combining items into one parcel

Just wondered what others views are on this.

Is it worth (can you do it) putting in your description (and I know a lot will come back and say people don't read descriptions) the following

"if you are interested in more than one item please contact me before buying and I would be happy to list as one item and try and save on postage"

If items are added to the basket before paying it should then offer you the chance to send an invoice.
