Collection order?
I’ve purchased a machine for £5000. The payment has been made to eBay.
The seller is providing delivery via a transport company. He is asking for the collection code before he gives it to the transport company, is this ok or do I hold on to the code until I receive the machine.

Mentor1 month agoNot wise to give code until received. Likewise seller will not have proof of delivery.
Collection should be collection in person, if being delivered it is not a collect, to my minor seller is misusing the system.

Mentor1 month ago · EditedThere's a lot of money involved here, so it's important to get it right. What the seller is proposing isn't correct, which could just be a misunderstanding on their part - or could be something more sinister.
What exactly does the listing state about delivery or collection?
If it's for delivery only, no code is applicable. For proof of delivery, eBay would if necessary check the tracking record.
If it included an option for collection, why is the seller now arranging for delivery? If you asked them to do this on your behalf then unless the delivery cost is included in your payment to eBay it's liable to be treated as a buyer-arranged courier, which would invalidate much of eBay's money back guarantee. As has been said, providing your delivery code will be treated as proof that the item was delivered, so you should not disclose it until it has been.
If this arrangement for delivery has gone off the rails it may be best to ask the seller to cancel the sale, and relist it with a clear description of delivery or collection. If the seller won't cooperate, remember that if they are a UK business seller you have a legal right to cancel online purchases, even though you cannot do so through eBay.

Mentor1 month agoThe seller should not have listed that with collection if they were going to arrange delivery. Something is not right here.
