Collected Items - Refunded
This is my first time having a seller collect an item, and it will 100% be my last!
I sold a Herman Miller Chair on here, and after the chair was collected, the seller started a dispute, saying it had not been delivered.
While I was working away, and had very limited to no access to my account.
eBay has then refunded the seller, meaning I lost out on a fair chunk of money.
Is there anything I can do? As a valued and trusted eBay member for years (as they say) have no actual contact methods that seem to work, as each time I request a call back, I get nothing.
This has infuriated me as all communication, such as my mobile number, collection address, and arrangements, was made there.

·10 months agoYou had a month to appeal Ebay's decision - but you would need clear evidence that the chair was collected.
When you sell collection only items, Ebay sends the buyer a code and sellers should just not hand over the item unless the buyer gives them the code.
If you don't follow the process, you leave yourself open to false claims, like the one made against you.
Use the link below to get a callback but Customer services will probably tell you the same as I have.
Your only option might be a legal route but you would need the buyer's details and evidence that they did collect the chair.

OP10 months agoI wasn't aware of any codes for in-person sales. This was the first time I had done it, and it was only due to the size and weight of said item.
There should be CCTV footage available, if still accessible. If that is the case, then surely this can be reported as theft to the police.

Mentor10 months agoThis would now be between you and your buyer, eBay won't get involved and the Police won't be interested as this isn't theft, it's a civil matter.
Maybe contact Citizens Advice and see if they can suggest something?
Do you have the buyers address? If so, send them a recorded delivery letter stating that you have CCTV footage of them collecting the chair they are claiming not to have collected.

Mentor10 months agowhen an item is sold for collection the buyer gets a code when the pay through eBay checkout and you must get the code from the buyer at the time of collection to prove it was collected.

Mentor10 months agoWhen the buyer collected they should have given you a 6 digit code that you add to the order, this proves that they've picked their item up and cannot claim that they don't have it.
Seller must not hand over collection items without getting this code.
If your buyer has deceptively claimed that they haven't received the chair and they've been refunded there is nothing you can do here if you have no proof that they did collect it.
