Collected in Person
Summary: blossomtree123 sold an item on eBay with the option for in-person collection or postage. The buyer collected the item, and both parties signed an invoice to confirm the collection. However, the system still requests a postage label, and attempts to mark the item as dispatched have failed. tressygirl suggested that the buyer should have a QR code to confirm the collection, but blossomtree123 realized the buyer did not select the collection option. john1297576 warned about potential label charges and suggested a workaround to avoid them, criticizing the complexity of eBay's process.
Hi. I have just sold an item where I put the option to collect in person, or would post, on the listing.
Buyer paid straight away and has collected the item. We both signed the invoice as 'item collected' and today's date, and both have a copy.
When I go into my orders, the order is there but it wants me to print a postage label - which obviously I don't want to do now.
I have tried to mark the item as dispatched but I just get the message 'The selected order(s) aren't eligible for this action'.
How can I move forward with this so that Ebay knows it has been collected/dispatched/delivered whatever.
Thanks so much.

Mentor1 week agoYou are running the risk of being charged for a label.
I do not used Simple Delivery myself, but I think that just clicking the “get label” will mark as dispatched, but do not print it. You may need to cancel the label within 14 days.
In my opinion ebay has made something which should be easy into a not very complicated minefield for sellers to lose money.

Mentor1 week agoIf the buyer selected Collection on the postage details, then they should have received a 6 digit QR code.
Send them a message to look through their order details, eBay messages, emails even Spam for this code, and to send it to you. You can then manually add those numbers beside item collected.
If the buyer does not find / send this code, you cannot mark it as collected and your payout will be held for a minimum of 14 days.
The notification to ' post' will stop, sometimes taking 30 days to disappear.

OP1 week agoHi
Thanks for this. I don't think the buyer selected Collection on the postage details! Ah well, now I know - every day I learn something new. Thanks again
