Collected and return item in person... seller received but hasn't issued a refund yet
Hi all,
Over a week ago I had purchased an item which was "collection only"... after a day with the car battery, noticed that I was facing with the same issue as the previous battery, carried out some test and concluded that the battery was old and not holding the charge and it was 11 years old which was omitted by the seller. I had request a return which he agreed... ebay requests a carrier name and tracking info, I don't have the info because I've return the item in person to seller in person. He hasn't issued a refund and not responding to my message... how should I proceed with this matter?

OP10 months agoCurriers use photos as proof of delivering and no question asked... I have return an item in a near past the same way and the seller refunded me on the same minute. This seller found an occasion and opportunity to prove who he is... liar and devious!

OP10 months agoI have communicated with ebay customer service and they said that they cannot do much at the moment as it has been just a few hours and they request me to contact them this Friday. The front door step can be seen from google maps "street view" and the date and hour stamped on them, these photos were sent to the seller as well.

Mentor10 months agoThat doesn't prove that the seller has their item back though.
I've a feeling that eBay won't get involved here, no matter what they may say when you call them. If they don't stick to the returns process, whereby the seller doesn't refund until there's proof (in the form of a tracking number showing delivery) that they have their item back, then it would be open to considerable abuse.

Mentor10 months agoCollection items that are not as described are treated exactly the same as posted ones for the purposes of the money back guarantee.
So the seller has to arrange to get it back and the buyer needs online tracking showing it's been returned.
I think there are a number of problems with this policy but it is what it is.

Why did you do this? eBay requires tracking proof of returrn so you've given yourself a problem now.
The seller would even have had to pay for the return if you has stuck to eBay's procedures.

Mentor10 months agoWhy didn't you get your refund when you returned the item to the seller?
I doubt eBay will force a refund from the seller as you have no proof of return, your picture could be anywhere, your best hope is if eBay refund you from their own coffers

Mentor10 months agoYou have no proof of return but you can contact ebay and see what they say. You can request a callback on here:
