CHINA sellers listing as UK sellers

Summary: mcl558311 initiated a discussion highlighting an issue with sellers on an online platform who are misleadingly listing their location as the UK, while they are based in China. The concern appears to focus on the accuracy of seller information which might affect purchasing decisions.

So I bought a replacement BBQ grill mesh and when I got the confirmation email I noticed the arrival estimate for the week after next, it said '3 day other courier' on the listing. Then I noticed it was being dispatched from China - so I cancelled it, thinking this must have been my error. Checked the listing and it said dispatching from Leeds.

So I did a new same search, made sure I selected 'UK only sellers', found another saying 'dispatched from Manchester, 3 days other courier'. Same again happens; turns out this was also a lie and it was to be dispatched from China. I cancelled it only the seller declined, even though they had not dispatched it.

I am wondering whether to just tell the postman to return to sender / failed to deliver - although, I might not catch him because I have a parcel drop box. Suppose it's more likely I will have to return through the ebay system and take it to a drop box somewhere - which annoys me.

So I look down the search list and find 4 companies all doing the same, in China claiming they are dispatching from the UK. I do not want to buy this way, for environmental reasons, and on this occasion, I know the item will not arrive in time.

I try to report all 4 sellers, and I get replies from ebay for each (as you can only report 1 at a time), and they all say the case has been reviewed by AI and is not in violation of ebay rules - huh?! So clearly AI has not been able to do work as hoped here. The email says I can appeal, which I have now done.

I did however, want to speak to someone at ebay about this, and can I find how, no, of course not. There AI assistant does not give me an option to report a problem, call or be called. Daft question, is there a way?

It's all peed me off really. No one to complain to properly and the fact ebay let this practice go on.
