Charged a fee for a buyer cancelling an order
Someone just bought an item from me, but put in a request to cancel because they had changed their mind. When I went to cancel the order for them, Ebay tried to charge me £12. I understand that there are fees attached to selling, but why am I being charged for item that has not been sold? I can see there is something about fee credits. I can't get through to anyone on Ebay, of course. Can anyone help?

Mentor2 months agoThe electric keyboard? Did you have a reserve on it? This is classed as an optional listing upgrade, and the most expensive one. Use it, and it costs 4% of your set reserve, payable sale or no sale, and charged the second the item goes live.
Reserves as with all the following optional listing upgrades if used, have to be paid regardless.
Reserves: 4% of the set reserve ( maximum £150 per item)
Subtitles: £2
Listing in 2 categories: 35p
Gallery Plus: £2.50 ( free for clothes and shoes)
Listings with duration 1 - 3 days 35p
As a tip, before clicking on the final List Item With Displayed Fees button, glance just above it, it should read £0.00 Listing Fee.
If there is a fee amount listed there, you have selected an upgrade, and if you wish, it gives you time to scroll up and remove the payable upgrade.
