Changing tracking number after postage?
Summary: paulemoz posted an item with a different postage method and tracking number than originally provided and is concerned that eBay won't recognize when the item arrives. They are worried this may delay their payment. tobiasd4 advised that while the tracking number can't be changed, they should inform the buyer of the new tracking information and reassured them that payment will be released after 14 days.
I posted an item today, but used a different kind of postage to the one I offered, and therefore a different tracking number to the one provided to me when I clicked "Print label". It has now dawned on me that eBay has no way of knowing if my item has arrived, as the tracking number registered with them has not been used. Does this mean that my money for the item will not be released to me, and I have essentially given away my item for free? I can't see any way to add a tracking number onto this auction (the instructions given for this do not work).

Mentor1 month agoOnly in the event of buyer opening a not received case, would you be able to use the new tracking number in your response, to prove delivery.

Message buyer with new info.
