cant change postage amount to be charged
Hello,
i just went to the post office & they confirmed that it would cost £1.55 to post something, but i cant change the
postage on the ad to £1.55, the lowest i can get it is £2.72 which is twice as much.
how do i change it to £1.55 ?
it will be posted by royal mail.
the items weighed the exact same as the items to be posted.
the other item i want to post is £2 postage by royal mail, so how do i change it to this amount.
they will both be sent second class by royal mail from & to the uk

i have just told you i am paying for the postage.

Unless the item is listed as free postage/buyer pays, the buyer pays Ebay for the postage, Ebay issue a label or QR code for you to use and you do not pay for the postage.

either i get charged twice as much to post them, or the customer gets charged twice as much to post them, it is the same thing, if it costs £1.55 to post something, them i or the customer should be paying £1.55 for the postage, not twice as much

·6 months agoIf the buyer pays £2.72 and you use the Ebay label, the postage cost is £2.72.
Ebay collect £2.72 from the buyer who is paying for a tracked service.
The £1.55 you mention is the cost of a Large Letter stamp. An Ebay label, which the buyer pays £2.72, for is a different service, presumably Royal Mail Tracked 48 which is a more expensive service.

·6 months agoUnless your items are in exempt categories, they have to be listed using Simple Delivery and Ebay will set the postage.

·6 months agoEbay charge the postage and collect the amount from the buyer.
The buyer pays for the service they get, which is a tracked service.
If you send with a LL stamp on, there is no tracking.
So, the buyer pays more than you would charge but get a better service.
You are protected against claims for items not delivered or damaged in transit.
As I said, if you list in exempt categories, you can charge what you like.
However, Simple Delivery is mandatory for all private sellers and for most items.

OP6 months agoi am paying for the postage myself - seller pays.
but you have not addressed the issue, the post office have weighed it & said it would be £1.55 i have to charge them twice as much because i cant change it

·6 months agoYour items are a mix of buyer pays and seller pays (postage).
If your items are listed with free postage/seller pays, then you are not charging your buyers anything, although I assume a postage cost is built into the listing. When you use 'seller pays', you can post however you like but Ebay will charge YOU (not the buyer) their standard Simple Delivery charge.
Your empty carrier bags all seem to be listed with 'buyer pays' and £2.72 postage. However, if you listed them with 'free post/seller pays', you could use a Large Letter stamp and send them for £1.55 but Ebay would charge you £2.72.

Mentor6 months agoAs has been said, you cannot change what ebay charge initially but you can get a refund of it if you have free postage - seller pays on your listing.
