Cannot update product quantity on offer and note our location has changed to Birmingham
Summary: lincolnshiremarine sought help for an issue on eBay where they were unable to change the quantity of an item due to an incorrect location showing on the listing. Despite attempting to contact eBay, they faced challenges with the AI assistance. tommystrezures suggested persevering with contacting an agent through desktop options. Another participant, john1297576, shared a similar issue with location inaccuracies affecting sales. Eventually, lincolnshiremarine reported that the issue was resolved, allowing them to update the quantity and correct the location.
Can anyone help with an eBay listing problem?
I’m trying to change the quantity of an item we currently have for sale, and we have also sent offers to some buyers who are interested in the item.
I can change the quantity, but when I try to save the changes I get the following message:
“Looks like something is missing or invalid. Please fix any issues and try again. Item location.”
I’ve checked the listing and, for some reason, eBay is showing the item location as Birmingham, which is not correct. We are actually located in Nottingham, and the postcode shown is correct — it’s just the location/city that is wrong.
However, I cannot change the location. eBay gives me this message:
“Item location cannot be revised if the item has a bid or active Best Offers or is ending in 12 hours.”
I understand that the offers may be preventing certain changes, but I’m confused because I’m only trying to change the quantity, which eBay does allow when offers have been sent.
I’ve also tried contacting eBay through the chat and requesting a call, but it says that no one is available and I can’t seem to get past the AI assistant.
Has anyone experienced this before, particularly with eBay showing the wrong town/city despite the postcode being correct?
Any suggestions on how I can get the location corrected and still change the quantity without having to end and completely relist the item would be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes

Mentor3 weeks agoI’ve seen a few threads in the past few days with sellers saying their location is incorrect, which makes me wonder if there is a wider issue and bug at play.
Re contacting cs , it’s best to use desktop select the area of your issue eg buying, selling etc and type contact agent. It may take a few goes but AI does get it eventually.
The amending qty issue I don’t know if I am honest, the only thing possibly and you mentioned it too is if you offers sent out on items in question.

OP3 weeks agoThank you for your reply, I will try again to contact eBay, I've been selecting all different help subjects just to bypass AI with no success.
The location issue is very bizarre.
Best wishes

Mentor3 weeks agoMy location with a Romford postcode RM was showing me as in Guildford Surrey.
Edited it yesterday and appeared correct, but I notice that on a sale today that showed Guildford again.
These sort of changes could be responsible for the number of “seller does not dispatch to your location” problems.

Mentor3 weeks agoBest to stick with the correct area so you get put through to the correct area. As an experiment last week it was taking on average 5 goes at keep putting contact agent before the screen changed for a call back.
