cannot find correct username used to purchase item
I bought a rear bumper for my 2016 citreon dispatch LWB van, unfortunately it was the wrong item, I have exchanged emails with the seller but for some reason my current username isn't the one that i purchased the item with, the seller has asked me to use the same username I purchased the bumper with as they cannot deal with another username. I have tried to locate this other username without success, can anyone suggest how I can find the correct username, I cannot find the purchase in my histiory under my normal username but have copies of emails showing the purchase

The seller is talking nonsense to say that they cannot deal with another username. It's your identity, not any username for online shopping, that is relevant.
In your case, the first point is whether you still have any right to a return or refund. This depends upon the date you received the item - eBay's money back guarantee applies for ony 30 days (assuming that the seller sent the wrong item). If the mistake was yours, the seller's window for change of mind returns will apply - probably only 14 days.
If it's still covered, the next question is whether you closed the account on which you bought it? Or simply changed your username to the one you now use? If the latter, eBay's returnns and refunds procedures will still apply, if within the time limit.
If it's longer than 30 days, you may still be able to get help from your payment provider, e.g. credit or debit card issuer. Your eBay username will be irrelevant; ditto if there's enough money involved to consider using the new online small claims procedure (Money Claim Online - MCOL). Only your real name is required.

Mentor7 months agoYou probably bought as a guest, in which case all information will be on the email from ebay confirming purchase.
