Cancelling a purchase because of hidden customs costs from Poland
Can anyone give advice, I was asked to pay nearly £350 to allow my order (of which I paid £182 delivery fee) through customs and into UK. I refused and told the seller I wanted to cancel, she was very rude and said only the return is on you. I kept messaging her but no reply, I told her I wanted to know how much it would cost to return.... I haven't received the item, but need FEDEX to return to sender, she finally said £400
I told her that is extortionate. I wont pay it. Tried phoning Ebay, agent rang and was no help whatsoever... said I am responsible for customs prices etc.

Mentor1 month agoImport fees are the responsibility of the buyer (they're importing an item into their country) and are nothing to do with eBay or the seller. Import fees and Customs Duty are set by our very own HMRC.
If you don't accept the item and pay the required fees you may lose your item and your payment.

Mentor1 month agoas a seller you are responsible for any customs charges. Refusal to pay invalidates the eBay mbg. The eBay agent was actually correct in what they told you.
