Cancelled case fraudulent seller not refunding
I received 4 items from seller 1 x double dimmer and 3 x single.
My electrician said that the double ones connection was burred. So I decided to send all 4 back when I tried to return one for being faulty I called Ebay and asked if I could return all 4 in the same box they came In and was told yes and they could update tracking after I'd sent and to take photos of them in box. I also took photo at post office to show weighed the same.
When I opened a case to return the other 3 it was showing 1/3 and a price for one not 3. I tried to see how i could amend but there wasn't anyway. So I thought I'd cancel and retry. Now I cant reopen it and Ebay are saying they cant help . Seller is not refunding even though goods received 2 weeks ago. Surely Ebay should reopen if their return case wasn't working. Ive said I have screenshot showing it was 1/3 and wrong refund amount but they are not interested and even less so in the fraudulent seller. How can I escalate this! Ive spoken to my bank but this was paid using Ebay credit

What they mean is they won't help. eBay's rule is that only one case can be opened for each item, meaning that if cancelled it can't be reopened. What eBay lacks is what almost any other business would provide, which is the opportunity to speak with a manager who can override problems of this sort and provide a solution.
In your case, you were following the advice given by eBay's customer support (which is often incorrect), but found that it didn't work on practice. IMO it would have been reasonable to look at the circumstances and assist you to open a case successfully. But eBay's famous inflexibility mens that they stick to the exact letter of their rules. There isn't even any meaningful complaints procedure to use.
I think part of the problem is that eBay's money back guarantee and returns procedures are not regulated by the financial conduct authority, meaning that there is no right to any independent appeal against their decisions.

Mentor4 months agoSorry, but once a case has closed it can't be reopened.
If they were 4 items, you should have opened 4 cases & returned each item separately.
We would advise trying payment provider, but as you did that and they refused, nothing else can be done.
I assume it was UK business seller, if so contact https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/
