Can I refund/cancel a postage label before/after dispatch date?
Firstly, I am the first-time seller and understand how selling work. However, I have a few questions about dispatch and postage label.
A buyer placed an order item including delivery cost and it should be dispatched within 2 days but I have to wait for buyer's payment. I've already set-up bank detail and I assume it will be processed within 2 days or more (payouts). I also paid Royal Mail postage label as early preparation and unmarked dispatch. Royal Mail with QR code is not used yet.
So, can I cancel/refund a postage label (if payment isn't completed after dispatch date, e.g more than 7 days)? What I mean, I cancel/refund a postage label before or possibly after dispatch date. I wait for a completion of buyer's payment and then I pay a new postage label and dispatch as usual.
Note: I already sent a message to Ebay contact service but it said I have to wait for 48 hours, I don't have a time. Therefore, I wrote this.

Mentor10 months agoOnce buyer has paid, whether or not money has been released to you, you must post asap, as late delivery can count against you, and buyer could open a Not Received case once past the estimated delivery date given by ebay.
If you do not use the label supplied by buyer and buy your own postage, that means you are out of pocket. If it is set that buyer also buys the postage, then you do not receive that money, and if you do not use the label, the refund goes to buyer, not you.
Buyer is happy as he has paid less than required, and you only receive the purchase price from which you will need to buy the postage.
Excluding the buyer protection fee as that just complicates matters
Purchase price £10 postage £3. You receive £10 buyer buys postage.
Purchase price £10 postage cancelled, cost to buyer £10.
Purchase price £10 you buy postage £3, you receive only £7.

If you bought it through Ebay, then you can cancel it. I would cancel it before the date it should be used. You can always take the item to the Post Office and buy a label there.
Where did you get the buyer's address from?
You must only send items to the address the buyer uses at checkout. You may see an address on the invoice you send to your buyer but the address you HAVE to use is the one from 'order details' in your sold items/orders. The address is not added by Ebay until the buyer has paid.
So, always wait for payment before buying a label. As soon as you purchase a label the tracking is added and the item is shown as dispatched - that is confusing for your buyer who may assume you have sent the item even though they haven't paid.
You may have to wait for the buyer's payment to be released to you because you are a new seller.

I already view the buyer's address/invoice.
I paid a postage label on ebay online (PDF/QR code) but I unmarked a dispatch item. I sent a message to buyer and understood about ongoing payment process.
I hope it won't affect when I wait for payment after dispatch date? It said 'Make sure you send your order within the dispatch time you specified in the listing.' (see screenshot below).
And what do I should with postage label that I already paid? (it can be used within 7 days) Again, I already unmarked dispatch item.

Mentor10 months agoAs a new seller your payment may be held by ebay for 30 days. You are supposed to send the item as soon as you receive email notification from ebay that payment has been received.
You can't cancel the label but the cost would be refunded to buyer if it's unused. If you cannot send the item you would have to cancel/refund the whole transaction.

OP10 months agoI clearly understand about receiving a payment and then send an item.
As for the postage label, I paid it but not dispatch an item yet (I unmarked it). However, the postage label can be used within 7 days. I am thinking about refunding postage because I feel that payment might be long time but I hope I receive it very soon.
Furthermore, I have replied someone else on this community about dispatch date. (see screenshot) I hope it won't affect when I wait for payment after dispatch date (not dispatch yet). It said 'Make sure you send your order within the dispatch time you specified in the listing.'

·10 months agoAre you sure the buyer has not paid Ebay?
Normally, you wouldn't get a dispatch date until the buyer had paid.
If they have not paid, you will be able to see it in 'orders' and it will clearly state 'buyer has not paid yet'.
If they have paid, it will show in 'payments' which you can access from the link below.
Even if the funds shown in the blue box are nil, any pending payments (where the buyer has paid but Ebay have not released the money to you yet) will be directly underneath the blue box.
If they have paid Ebay, even if you have not received payment yet, use your label and get the item sent.

The address on the invoice may not be the address the buyer wants the item posted to.
YOU MUST ONLY POST TO THE ADDRESS SHOWN IN ORDER DETAILS.

OP10 months agoSorry, I am slightly confused with your description of paid status.
I have not received any email from Ebay that it is confirmed. Where can I see the status that a buyer paid to ebay (even Ebay not release it to me)? So, I can use a label and send it .
I noticed Fund Status with grey status (see screenshot), I assume this is for Ebay release it to me, is that correct?
Ebay webpage with order details looks confusing.

·10 months agoThat means the buyer has paid Ebay. Ebay will hold onto your funds until tracking shows delivery or 22nd October.

You have to wait for the buyer to pay ebay, you are not meant to wait for ebay to release that payment to you.
They are two separate processes.

OP10 months agoRight, how I do know that buyer paid Ebay? Will Ebay email me? (I am not talking about release payment to me, just buyer's payment to Ebay).
Actually, I received very first email from Ebay (after sold) then Ebay said my payouts are on hold because my payment method (bank detail) isn't set up. So, I did update immediately.

You would not have given it by ebay if the buyer hadn't paid and you also wouldn't have received the message about payouts being on hold if there was nothing to payout .

OP10 months agoEbay shows the buyer's address on an order detail page. Wait? I think I know what you mean. Is this mean a buyer already paid to ebay? (Because I can view buyer's address, is that right?)
I also read other members' comments that made me think that I have to dispatch it soon.
