Can I leave feedback on an item I never received?
Summary: daltons_records shared their experience with a guitar purchase from China. The item never arrived despite being marked as delivered, and after opting for a resend, the seller became unresponsive. Several participants explained feedback and refund policies, emphasizing that feedback cannot be left after 90 days and highlighting the importance of understanding eBay's 30-day money-back guarantee. They advised opting for refunds rather than replacements to avoid missing refund opportunities. daltons_records is considering a chargeback through their bank but is concerned about the timeframe.
Guitar purchase from China on 26th Feb, due by May 29th. Got tracking 6 weeks prior to due date, May 29th shows the item as delivered but it didn't actually arrive, seller confirms in messages that the couriers say its lost and would they like to have it resent or refunded. I opt for re-sent so they "make" the guitar again, now we're 5 months in since original purchase and the seller has gone silent and no longer has any listings.
I can't report this purchase in any way on ebay as its outside the 30 day moneyback guarantee, depsite all this being backed up by messages from the seller, the AI bot is no help as it won't put me through to an agent on purchases 90 days +.
I've reported the transaction to my bank so awaiting a chargeback decision (I've never had to do anything like this before), but I expect that to fail because of the time frame.
Can I at lease leave a negative feedback for this seller? I feel like there is no recourse at all.

Mentor1 week agoIn other word you are almost certainly out of time.
For the future, always take a refund. Accepting a replacement which will probably never arrive, puts you outside the money back guarantee as you only get one chance, and a replacement has no cover at all

Mentor1 week agoIf more than 90 days have passed it's no longer possible to leave feedback.
You can leave feedback for up to 60 days from the date you received your item or from the estimated delivery date whichever comes first. If no estimated delivery date is provided, you have up to 90 days from when you completed your purchase to leave feedback for the seller.

OP6 days agoI imagine this is still the case even though in the messages they've said they're resending it? Seems like a bit of an oversight that someone can take my money, keep it, not send the goods and I can do seemingly nothing about it.
Its only just over £200 and granted I never read up on the 30 day guarantee, but all the proof remains there for ebay to see in the tracking and the seller messages.

Mentor6 days agoYou say you haven't read up on eBay's 30 day MBG ? Please do, it's written on every listing, and on the link below, it can save you a lot of time and money in the future.

Mentor6 days agoEbay never takes action outside of the 30 day guarantee period. To allow exceptions would make the system unworkable.

Mentor6 days agoIt is the case, it's vital to ask yourself how your money is protected when parting with it. eBay give you 30 days from the latest estimated delivery date showing on your original order (promises of re-sending are usually just a play on the sellers part), PayPal give you 180 days from your payment date and, if you funded a payment with a debit/credit card you have 120 days from payment to issue a not received chargeback.

OP6 days agoThanks, yes I understand but the fact that the item is forever stuck as 'tracking recieved' is pointless, I can't even mark it as not received now.
Anyway, got to cut my losses now and make sure not to treat any messages from sellers in good faith.
