Can a UK Ltd company with a 16-year-old director open an eBay business account?
Summary: pluggedback seeks advice on opening an eBay business account for a UK limited company with a 16-year-old director. They are concerned about eBay Managed Payments' verification process and whether having a minor as a director might lead to account rejection. The author requests insights based on real experiences, as eBay's documentation does not provide clear answers.
Hi everyone,
I’m looking at opening a UK limited company and a new eBay business account, but I’m unsure how eBay Managed Payments handles directors under 18.
My situation is:
The company will be a UK limited company.
One director is 18+.
One director is 16 (which is legal under UK company law).
Both directors are genuinely involved in running the business.
The primary contact and bank account can be in the name of the 18+ director if required.
My questions are:
Has anyone successfully opened an eBay business account for a UK Ltd company with a 16-year-old director?
Does eBay/Adyen verify every director and beneficial owner, or only the primary contact/authorised signatory?
Has anyone had a company rejected specifically because one of the directors was under 18?
I’m looking for real experiences rather than guesses, as I can’t find a clear answer in eBay’s documentation.
Thanks in advance!
