Buyers remorse return when no returns accepted
Someone help me understand how this works. I sold an item, communicated with the buyer before shipping to confirm condition, included parts etc. was given the all clear by buyer.
item shipped and delivered fine, several days later get a return request which stated “just didn’t like it”. Obviously I declined as the listing states “Seller does not accept returns”.
Buyer immediately opens a case with eBay which is auto resolved within 1 minute to a “return for a refund” resolution.
I have no reported the buyer for abusing the returns system as clearly there is no grounds for a return under eBay’s on policies.
I have no idea where this stands now, if the buyer ships it back whole ebay are allegedly looking into the report I submitted what happens then. If they continue to rule in the buyers favour and deems a refund is required what is the purpose of having a no returns option if it’s not maintainable in the most blatant instance it’s supposed to cover against.
I can’t see any reason this should have made it through a case raised by the buyer, other than eBay auto resolve every case without looking at them. By the most basic criteria it does not meet the requirements for a return.
I am not insane for thinking no returns means no returns (unless damaged etc which isn’t the case by the buyers own words), right?!

Mentor6 months agoHow did they manage to open two returns? Anyway, it's unlikely but possible that after their initial request the buyer found something wrong that was not described correctly. In which case they would be entitled to a refund. That's the way ebay will look at it.
The problem with putting "no returns" is that this sort of thing happens and you get to pay the return postage. As least if you accepted a "change of mind" return they'd have to pay the postage.

OP6 months agoThey raised a request for a return with the reason “just didn’t like it”. Which I declined.
they then opened a case off the back of the declined return, which was instantly resolved in their favour.
my question is why does eBay offer the option to select ‘no returns’ if it’s unenforceable even in the most basic example such as this?

Mentor6 months agoNo returns only applies to "change of mind" returns, and even then I suppose ebay think there's no harm in asking.

OP6 months agoCorrect. As stated they said the reason for return was “just didn’t like it”. This is covered as change of mind.
therefore why was the case resolved as a return for refund!? It makes no sense
