buyer wants to cancel ("accidental order"), so do I just cancel it, or does request come via ebay
Summary: lianazon asked if they should directly cancel an eBay order for a buyer who claimed it was accidental, or wait for a cancellation request from eBay. **peaseblossom** did not provide a detailed response, and the discussion did not reach a clear resolution.
So I buyer bought something, and I generated the label and arranged pickup (pickup time is two days from now).
Buyer contacted me soon after saying it was an accidental order, and asking me to cancel. Is this the right way to do it? I don't want to be penalised for cancelling an order that, from ebay's point of view, should happen.
A quick googling got this generated by their ai (I sent this to the buyer):
How to Submit a Cancellation Request
- Sign in to Your Account: Ensure you are logged into your eBay account.
Access Purchase History: Navigate to your Purchase history.
Find the Order: Locate the order you wish to cancel.
Select Cancellation Option:
- Click on the More actions dropdown menu.
- Choose Cancel this order.
After Cancellation Request
- Once you submit the request, eBay will notify the seller, who has 3 calendar days to accept or decline it.
Ebay has not notified me, but the seller said that they went through the right procedure, and ebay told them to contact me directly.
Any advice?

Mentor2 months agoYou can just issue a cancellation using the reason "Buyer asked to cancel". Then the buyer will be asked to accept it. If they do nothing the cancellation will go ahead anyway after three days.
