Buyer returned Item as wrong purchase

I’m looking for some clarification regarding eBay fees and returns.
A buyer returned an item stating that they purchased it by mistake (“wrong purchase”).
The item sold for £100, but after postage and all the eBay fees, I only received £70.14.
This means I have effectively lost almost £30 on the transaction, even though the item was sold as a used item and the return was due to the buyer’s mistake.
I can’t see that eBay is refunding the fees that were originally charged on the sale. Can someone please clarify whether eBay refunds the selling fees when an item is returned because the buyer selected “wrong purchase”?
If the fees are not refunded, it seems very unfair that the seller has to absorb almost £30 in costs for a buyer-initiated return.

Mentor3 weeks agoIf the return was done properly through the ebay system, the amount you refund should be what you received, ebay making up to total by refunding fees.
If a case was opened then you refund through the case, which should then be as I said above, but only after item returned to you.
