Buyer return reasons untrue
Summary: eallmond2012 shared a situation involving the return of an item, specifically Polo cord shorts, which the buyer claimed were "not as advertised" due to being allegedly washed and smaller than expected. Despite granting the return, eallmond2012 expressed that the shorts were indeed new and requested the buyer to amend their feedback. The buyer later admitted that the real issue was the shorts not fitting properly, and eallmond2012 sought advice on handling the perceived unfairness.
Hello, I sold an item which was a pair of new Polo cord shorts, I added 12 photos which showed how new the shorts were. I sold the shorts. The buyer then requested a return as “ they were not as advertised” the reason being he claimed they had been washed as smaller than expected. I have granted the return BUT I objected to the “ Not as advertised and been washed” I contacted the seller to say I was happy to return but they had not been washed, that the internal pockets could never be ironed to that a standard after washing and I would appreciate changing the “ not as advertised in his feedback. The buyer just messaged saying “ they just dont fit and are too narrow. Where do I stand now as this feels unfair on me as the seller.

Mentor3 weeks agoBuyers have 30 days to return an item that they consider is not as described under eBay's Buyer Protection/Money Back Guarantee, and if your buyer has already opened or opens an eBay item not as described return, they'll be required to send it back to you for a full refund of their original payment, and you'll need to provide them with a pre-paid returns label (if you don't provide a label, the buyer can escalate the dispute and get one from eBay, who will re-charge you for it).
You will get a defect against your selling account if you don’t accept the return and the buyer escalates the dispute to ask eBay to step in, which they can do after 3 business days.
Once you get your item back, if you feel that your buyer has misused eBay’s Money Back Guarantee you can use the Report Buyer link next to the item in your My eBay. This is unlikely to affect the outcome of the return case though unless they've returned too many items for the same reason.
