Buyer paid for postage but is collecting in person

Question

A buyer made an offer on an item and has now paid...even though he wants to collect in person and I offer that, somehow he has paid postage. I don't have that money to refund him, eBay does.

Am i correct in thinking if I don't print the postage label he get's a postage refund? But then we don't get a QR Code to scan when he picks up.

Any clues from anyone?

That is correct the buyer if they paid for that postage they would be refunded, takes 30 days.

More importantly is that you would not have the collection code which is the only proof you have that the item was collected.

Best way forward is to cancel the order with the buyer's acceptance, so citing' Buyer requests to Cancel'. This fully refunds the buyer. Then, relist the item as Collection only, for the buyer to buy and pay again.

A bit of a faff, but the only way for you to get that all important collection code.

@papso22 is correct. In answer to the other part of your question when you set listing up you can ‘turn off collection’. When you get to postage options towards the bottom of setting up there should be three options of collection only, post or collect or post only. That’s should eradicate your issue.

This may have happened before to me I think (not quite sure I recall the exact circumstance). I had someone else collect in person recently and it was fine...but now and before for some reason people seem to just be asked to pay postage and not have options to collect. Am i doing something wrong in the selling options?!
