Buyer not happy with condition of a GRADED card
Summary: oddish196 expressed concern about a buyer requesting a return for a graded card on eBay, despite the card being graded a 9 by a professional company. They worry about the risk of not receiving the card back if they accept the return and offer a refund. tressygirl advised that if a case is opened, the process is automatic and the seller must accept the return and either offer a refund or provide a return label. tressygirl suggested that if the decision seems unfair after escalation, oddish196 should consider appealing through eBay's process.
I have a buyer who is requesting a return of a graded card.
The card is graded a 9 by a recognised grader on ebay, however the buyer is disappointed with the cards condition.
As a seller, I am responsible for the overall condition, but the card itself has been graded by a professional company and therefore not my fault.
The only options I have is:
Accept return
Full/Partial refund.
I fear that accepting the return, I may not get the card back and lose out.
What can I do?

Mentor3 months agoIf a case has been opened it's all automatic, no human contact, so you do have to accept it and respond either with a refund, or provide a paid return label for the item to be returned.
If eBay step in and refund, should the case be escalated, if you think the decision for the refund unfair, you can appeal, link below shows the process.
I'll admit it's not easy, eBay do not see the item in question and they do tend to side with a buyer's view, but worth a shot appealing.
