Buyer lying, e-bay supporting them
I dont believe this .. I sold an item recently, was posted and received safely but 11 days later ..I'm going to repeat that ... 11 DAYS LATER ... I get a return request claiming the item 'wont set up' in reality the detail being that he couldn't access his Google account on it, the thing being of course that he had to have been able to set it up initially in order to access Google .. I suggested it may be a Google or his Google account problem and for a picture of the details on the screen as I may be able to help him, .. nothing ... I asked again a few days later for a picture of the screen and nothing again, as it was getting close to the return closure date I accessed the case details information, and here is where it gets interesting as the buyer had sent e-bay two pictures (none to me remember) of the item, the thing being the item I sold him was white and the pictures of the item he is claiming to be faulty is black. I got e-bay to do a call back to me and explained all this to the agent, as it was one day away from the closure date he said I had to wait until then Feb 16th but still wouldn't be able to action anything until the 17th. I duly received an e-mail this morning asking me to respond, I did and again pointed out the anomoly and sent the his pictures and my sales picture as proof only to then receive an e-mail saying they were allowing the return ..??????????
E-bay is an absolute joke ... I recently had to jump through hoops to get a refund as a seller due to something not being received as a result of e-bays procedures, and now as a seller I am again having to literally fight for what is right ... Not only are the pictures of the wrong item, they also show a damaged screen, scratches etc, they are attached below, his show a black item, what I actually sold is the white one and yet despite this evidence I am told they are allowing the return and not only do I lose the sale, but to add insult to injury I have to pay the return postage too ??? ... where is the common sense logic rhyme or reason in that please ...
I contacted 'Dublin' only to be talking to someone in Utah .. again .. and was told I would have to wait three days for anything to happen, .. no one in e-bay is aware of what is happening or seems to care for rights and common sense, the agents on the phone agree with everything you say and point out, agree they have seen the details and pictures but do nothing at all that is positive .. in fact in all probability have no authority at all either, just simply as I say blindly read from scripts and follow diagrams.
NOTE .. e-bay acolytes/mentors whatever DO NOT BOTHER posting any 'defensive' replies, I am not interested, there is no defence that can be given for ignoring facts, evidential pictures and this absolute betrayal of my rights as a seller, this buyer is blatantly lying, their own pictures proves this and yet e-bay supports him and is allowing him to do so.
The first two pictures below are what the buyer sent to e-bays claiming it to be the faulty Item I sold note the scratches etc to the screen ... ... the last picture is of the actual item I sold ... and e-bay is allowing this to happen .. !!

Mentor5 months agoWe often hear from sellers who claim that eBay has taken no notice of their side of the story.
Part of the problem is that eBay's money back guarantee is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. This means that eBay can decide cases as they wish, with as much or as little investigation as they choose to make, knowing that users have no right of appeal to any independent authority. The user agreement specifically requires us to accept their decisons.
It's not only sellers who complain. Although eBay is generally felt to lean in the buyer's favour on item description cases, on delivery issues some of its decisions against buyers have seemed equally unfair. How can eBay not take the buyer's word that the photo supplied as proof of delivery was not their own front door? I don't see how some of these decisons could stand up to scrutiny if users had a right of independent appeal.
I have been saying for years that this is very unsatisfactory situation compared, for example to PayPal's buyer protection policy which is regulated by the FCA, has a proper appeals procedure and if necessary a right of appeal to the Financial Ombudsman.
