Buyer lying about authenticity of item
Hi,
I am looking for advice as I have recently sold a genuine Pokemon card that was purchased from an official Pokemon pack either from Asda, Morrisons or Smyths (it was a while ago so can't remember the exact shop) and now the buyer has contacted saying it is a fake and to issue a refund.
There is no way in this world it is fake and we also had it valued by a local Pokemon card dealer in South Wales which is how we decided on the listing price.
The card wasn't perfect as it had light usage, but was in excellent condition. The buyer also complained that it did not have a sleeve, but it was never advertised with one.
You could see from the images it was real and had it had a problem I would have removed it from sale.
From reading eBay's buyer protection policy, it seems that eBay automatically default in favour of the buyer, but I am now concerned that the buyer is trying to scam me and will potentially send back an actual fake they may have in their possession meaning I have lost a genuine card and my money.
Surely there has to be some kind of protection for the seller and what happens if I do get scammed by this person? Will eBay actually step in and help?
I have tried to contact them and it is pretty much impossible, so hopefully someone can advise on here.

·5 months agoYou need to accept the return, provide a label and get the item back.
If you don't, and the buyer asks Ebay to step in, the buyer might get a refund, from your funds, without having to return the item.
Once you get the card back, if it is not the card you sent, them you can take further action.
However, until you have the card back you can't really do anything useful.

OP5 months agoThank you. I was going to do this rather than risk completely losing the card and hopefully the buyer send my original back.
I was just worried though because the card isn't a fake and he immediately threatened me with eBay, which looking at it eBay does favour the buyer. The buyer also said it is printed on thin cardboard and that you could shine a light through it which was simply not true.
It felt like the buyer was already versed in what to say.
I guess I'll have to wait and find out, but this has put me off selling on eBay and I'll be removing the others now.
