Buyer collected in person after I had printed a simple delivery label.
Summary: elizabetmunda_0 shared their experience of not receiving payment after a buyer collected an item in person, without following the proper procedure on eBay. tressygirl advised that the buyer should have provided a collection code to confirm pickup and release the payment. They explained the process for obtaining a refund for an unused delivery label. papso22 stressed the importance of understanding eBay's guidance for in-person collection to prevent future issues and protect against claims.
Being new to selling on ebay, I was unaware of the procedure for collecting in person. I assumed that since I gave the buyer the option of collecting in person, that I just handed the item to him when he came to collect it. I had already packed the item and printed the label, but of course it never went to post. so the buyer has the item, ebay has been paid, but I have not received payment. What do i do? I don't think the buyers knew the procedure either, but they have paid. They even sent a message to say how pleased they were with the item.

Mentor3 weeks agoNever assume anything on ebay. The guidance on collection in person explains what you need to do to confirm collection and get paid quickly. Without that evidence you will still get paid, eventually, but have no defence against an item not received claim.

Mentor3 weeks agoThe buyer should have brought a collection code for you to scan, this shows the item was collected and releases your payment.
Did the buyer select collection, then send them a message for them to send you that 6 digit code, they'll find it either with their order details, eBay messages or email.
Enter the code manually.
If they cannot produce this code your payout will be held for 14 days probably longer as you are a new seller.
For future collection items, never release the item without first scanning that code, as it is your only proof the item has been collected.
A refund is sent to whoever paid for the SD label:
If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days
If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.
