Brought a product from a seller he wont refund, ebay have sided with seller????
I purchased an extended HDMI lead, approximately 20 feet in length, with the intention of connecting my Swann DVR to a downstairs monitor. Upon unpacking the cable, I noticed that it was described as a “data cable”, which immediately raised concerns as this wording is commonly associated with computer or USB-type connections rather than standard HDMI audio-visual use. Despite this, I attempted to use the cable as intended, connecting it between the DVR and the monitor. The cable did not work and no signal was transmitted.
I contacted the seller to explain that the cable was not functioning for its intended purpose. Rather than engaging constructively or offering troubleshooting, the seller was dismissive and refused to accept a return or provide a refund. As a result, I escalated the matter to eBay. I was surprised and disappointed that eBay sided with the seller, as the item supplied was not suitable for the stated use and did not perform as expected when used correctly.
The cable was purchased specifically to connect a DVR to a monitor, which is a standard HDMI application. A cable marketed or labelled in a way that suggests it is a “data cable”, and which fails to transmit an HDMI signal in this context, is not fit for purpose. I remain unclear as to why the seller’s refusal to refund was upheld despite the item not working as required.

What exactly did you do?
Did you open a return case through Ebay within 30 days of receipt stating that the item was not as described?
That should have guaranteed a refund under the Money Back Guarantee.
You could ask your payment provider for a chargeback on the grounds that you have made an online purchase which is not fit for purpose.
