Bought faulty item - seller does not accept returns - positive feedback was left before testing
Hello,
I recently bought an electrical item. The item was delivered quickly and looked perfect when it arrived. I then foolishly left positive feedback.
When I finally got round to testing the item, it was defective. The seller does not accept returns. It has been just over a week since I bought the item.
Does anybody know if I have grounds to raise a case with Ebay for a return?
many thanks

Are you sayig that you've been a user for 23 years and never once looked to see how you're protected on eBay? There is a link to eBay's money back guarantee in every listing!
The good news is that sellers' no returns policies only apply to change of mind returns. If an item is faulty or not as described you have 30 days from the date of delivery to open a case for a full refund. The seller will be required to send you a re[aid return label if they want it back.
For full details, see: https://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebay-money-back-guarantee/
The feedback you left won't make any difference.

OP4 months agoha, I know, right! I think in all of those years, I have been very fortunate and have had very little issues from sellers.
That's good to hear. I will follow up with Ebay. I was concerned that leaving positive feedback with a description of "item as described", might have hindered a refund. I am still annoyed at myself for not fully testing the item before leaving feedback.
thank you

Mentor4 months agoAs said, eBay do not take feedback into any consideration when a case is opened for precisely the reason you have found, it can be left in error.
Did it myself this week ! 🙄 Easily done !
You can leave a follow up if you wish, but do not mention anything about a case or a refund as that would be cause for the seller to ask for it to be removed, it breaks eBay rules to mention any eBay involvement.
