Bidding
I bid £40 on an item, I was the highest bidder, and it sold for £38.74. Does anyone know why? This has happened before, it is so frustrating.

OP10 months agoThank you for this, it helps.
So how do I place a bid for say £40 and actually have that as my bid, rather than have that bid include buyer protection?
How do I calculate how much the buyer protection amount is to add to my bid of £40 so another bidder has to bid over £40 to snag the item?

Mentor10 months agoBuyers should simply bid the maximum they are prepared to pay, which will automatically include the item amount, the BPF, and any postage.
That is your bid, it includes everything and is the same for all buyers. There is no point in trying to work out the BPF.
Personally I never bid a round amount.

Mentor10 months agoYou are comparing your bid which includes the buyer protection fee, with the winner's bid without the buyer protection fee.
You are not comparing like with like.
